My Thoughts

I wish my arms were long
Enough to hold you from afar.
I wish my heart was strong
Enough to get into my car.

To drive through fear and darkness;
To make you cups of tea;
To soothe you through the pain of night;
To set your torment free.

I cannot feign indifference,
Pretend that I don’t care.
You know my heart beats faster
At the thought that you are near.
